I occasionally visit Wine Bar La Fête, but I always come to Kochuten for special occasions.I wish I could come more often, but timing just doesn’t work out.Ah, I really love this place. The wine selection is perfect, and the timing of the dishes and drinks, along with the staff's smiles, everything is just flawless.Starting with the amuse-bouche, it’s wonderful. The classic pâté and the vibrant gazpacho are simply the best. Then there’s the prosciutto and bouillon; serving this bouillon is truly impressive! The appetizer of consomme jelly, lobster, and sea urchin has a quality that seems common yet is truly unique. The dish featuring sweetfish has a rich flavor that comes from the sweetfish bisque, with a nice balance of bitterness and citrus acidity, and the texture of the kadaif is delightful. Pairing this with red wine? Wow, this is incredible! The managatsuo is fluffy and thick, with a crispy skin. Is it saffron and americane? Or bouillabaisse? The umami is strong, and the aroma is just amazing! For the finale, we had lamb, perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of salt that doesn’t overpower the ingredients. The sauce, is it jus d’agneau? The aroma is fantastic, and the caramelized carrots are sweet and delicious.Of course, the cutlery is pleasantly warm, making me feel like I’ve truly arrived. For dessert, we had watermelon sorbet and salted milk ice cream—there are no words to describe it.Next was apricot with raspberry sauce and a custard pastry. The aroma of this custard is incredible; I wonder if the sugar is something special? Finally, wow, is that Ducasse? Oh no, I can’t handle it!I was knocked out by the best experience. This feeling is priceless. Less
I finally had the chance to visit a restaurant that I had been curious about for a long time. The atmosphere, service, and cuisine were all exceptional—visually delightful and delicious to eat. It was truly a perfect and wonderful place. I definitely want to return!
I visited "French Ryori Kochuten".This is a French restaurant in Nagoya that I had wanted to try for a while. It’s conveniently located just a short walk from Shin-Sakae Station, but once inside, you feel a bit removed from the bustling city, allowing you to enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere. This time, I opted for the course menu. Each dish was carefully prepared and beautifully presented. With every course that arrived, I found myself eagerly anticipating what would come next. The menu featured classic French sauces and seasonings, while also highlighting seasonal ingredients. The dishes were vibrant and not only visually appealing but also rich in flavor, revealing their quality with each bite. The ambiance was calm, making it the perfect setting to savor the food at a leisurely pace. The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring that I felt no rush from start to finish.Overall, the combination of food, atmosphere, and service was well-coordinated, making it a place you’d want to choose for a special occasion. It provided a different dining experience from my usual meals. If you're in Nagoya and looking for French cuisine, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Less
I was finally able to visit again after quite a long time. While there are many renowned French restaurants in Nagoya, only a few can be considered long-established, and this is definitely one of them. This time, I enjoyed a variety of classic dishes that I have loved for years, and I was thoroughly satisfied. On this day, I had:- Amuse-Bouche- Gazpacho wrapped in jelly- Salmon cream with anchovy- Masuko- Pâté- BON DABON 24-month aged Percheux and its broth- Sea urchin and lobster consomme jelly... The classic "Sea Urchin and Lobster Consomme Jelly" is a must-have whenever I visit this restaurant. I have had similar dishes at other places, but none can compare to the original here. This is something everyone should definitely try.For the main course, I had the roasted pigeon from France, which has just recently become available. It was a triumph of culinary skill, perfectly showcasing the unique flavors and aromas of the pigeon. The dessert was exceptional as well, made with domestic lemons and set with chocolate and mousse. If you're looking for classic, authentic French cuisine, this might just be the best recommendation in Nagoya.I will definitely be back! I thought it was an exaggeration for just one slice of ham, but it was indeed delicious. The accompanying soup, made from the ham's bouillon and containing matsutake mushrooms, was very tasty.BreadThe aroma of wheat is subtle, and the bread has a high moisture content with a slight acidity. While it doesn't stand out much as bread, it is still delicious. I had two types, and both were delightful.Sea Urchin and Lobster Consommé JellyA specialty of the restaurant. The dish is served on a bed of ice, keeping it extremely cold. I’ve had various appetizers with sea urchin, beef consommé jelly, and cauliflower cream at different places, but this one was just as good. You can really taste the sea urchin, making it potentially even better than the one at "Kitajima-tei" (though I do enjoy the stronger saltiness of their consommé).Wild Sweetfish Wrapped in KataifiThis is said to be the best brand of sweetfish in Japan. I thought it was an exaggeration again, but it was surprisingly delicious. The sauce uses the fish's head and liver, which combined with the crispiness of the kataifi created a wonderful texture and flavor, balancing bitterness and deliciousness perfectly. The aroma of shiso and the citrus sauce used in the amuse-bouche kept it interesting until the end. I had a similar dish at "Ginza Oishi" before, but this one was far superior in taste. It was by far the best sweetfish I’ve ever had, almost making me feel like I was in Kyoto.Sweetfish and ZucchiniThe cooking of the sweetfish was perfect, and it paired well with the sauce made from white wine, paprika, and homemade green oil.At this point, they brought out the cutlery for the meat dishes, and surprisingly, the cutlery was warm. I remembered a scene from "Fermat's Cookbook" where they adjusted the cutlery to 45°C, and I was shocked.PigeonThis pigeon is from France, and you can enjoy the thigh, breast, and tenderloin. The skin is crispy while the inside is moist and juicy, making it very delicious. Perhaps because it’s Nagoya, I sensed a flavor reminiscent of the sauce used for chicken wings, which complemented the pigeon well. The best pigeon I’ve had so far was from "Cezan," but this one, while different in style, was also at a very high level of deliciousness. It was the best dish of the day.Palate CleanserWatermelon and Salted Milk Ice CreamThe ice cream was very tasty, and while the watermelon had some alcohol, it was just the right amount for flavoring, unlike the overwhelming quantity in the "Asahina Gastronomique" tea & gin.DessertAmerican Cherry and ChocolateThe harmony of American cherries, chocolate, and pistachio ice cream was excellent, and it looked great too. The cutlery for the palate cleanser and dessert was well chilled. From the amuse-bouche to the palate cleanser and petit fours, there was no lack of effort, and the overall quality of the course was very high.Until now, I had the impression that the level of restaurants was Tokyo >>> Nagoya, but this place offers a taste that is on par with Tokyo restaurants. The attention to temperature, such as serving cold dishes on ice and warming or chilling cutlery, was also very good. However, I did notice that the service felt a bit unrefined in terms of movement and explanations. Less

It was a very sunny and hot day, but the pleasant conversation with my family on the way to the restaurant naturally heightened my anticipation for a French lunch. Kochuten's modest sign and soft lighting left a strong impression, and as I opened the door, a sense of tranquility enveloped me, making me forget the heat outside. At noon, the time of my reservation, the staff promptly noticed me and guided me to my table. The round table, adorned with a white cloth, was neatly set, and the warm wooden walls combined with the gentle lighting created a serene atmosphere for family time. The distance between tables was ample, providing a comfortable space that allowed me to focus on the meal without distractions. The first drink served was the Aperitif Maison, a beautifully pale red that released a delicate raspberry aroma. It felt refreshing on this hot day, quietly building my expectations for the upcoming course.■ Aperitif Maison The sweet and sour scent of raspberries reached my nose, with a density unique to nectar that retained the essence of the fruit. The first sip revealed a vibrant acidity, followed by a subtle bitterness that rounded off the experience.■ Amuse-Bouche ● Tomato Gazpacho Breaking the spherical mousse released a vivid tomato soup, with its cold temperature enhancing the aroma. The lightness of the mousse harmonized pleasantly with the acidity of the gazpacho. ● Tart with Salmon Roe The orange eggs glistened atop a thinly baked tart, bursting with flavor with each bite. The tart's toasted aroma tied the flavors together beautifully. ● Sablé and Cheese Sandwich The contrast between the crumbly sablé and the distinctly salty cheese was exquisite. Adorned with small flowers, this bite-sized treat had a strong presence.■ "BON DABON" 24-Month Aged Percheux and Its Broth The ultra-thinly sliced ham melted on my tongue, releasing a deep richness that slowly unfolded. With each bite, the umami intensified, leaving a lingering sweetness. The broth, carefully extracted from the outer parts, was a clear soup with a depth created by the aroma of mushrooms, finishing with a refreshing hint of yuzu. The composition allowed the charm of the ingredients to be felt in three dimensions.■ Lobster and Sea Urchin Consommé Jelly At the center of the highly transparent jelly lay a delicate piece of sea urchin, with plump lobster beneath. The rich aroma of the sea urchin rose first, followed by the umami of the lobster. The jelly clarified the flavors, while cauliflower cream gently enveloped the dish, making it a delightful appetizer.■ Fresh Fish of the Day and Seasonal Vegetables The skin of the flounder was perfectly grilled, tender yet meaty. The mussels from Miyagi Prefecture were cooked to retain their firmness, releasing umami with each bite. The artichoke soup, layered with aromatic vegetables and herbs, had a subtle acidity that lightened the overall dish.■ Stuffed Pig's Foot and Homemade Gnocchi The boned pig's foot was filled with vegetables, its gelatinous texture rich yet surprisingly light. The deep flavor of the red wine sauce enhanced the dish, complemented by nut powder for added aroma. The gnocchi and seasonal vegetables seamlessly connected the flavors, providing a satisfying main course.■ Palate Cleanser The crisp outline of the salt ice cream and the gentle aroma of watermelon and gin sorbet complemented each other beautifully. The contrast in temperature was pleasant, preparing my palate for the upcoming dessert.■ Dessert In a beautifully layered chocolate vessel resembling flower petals, American cherries and pistachio ice cream were elegantly arranged. The tartness of the cherries and the richness of the chocolate mousse supported each other, and when paired with the kirsch sauce, a fragrant aroma wafted up.■ Petit Fours The golden kiwi tart offered a light sweetness, while the apricot jelly provided a transparent acidity that gently rounded off the final bite. The course I enjoyed at Kochuten combined the solid techniques of classic French cuisine with the comfort of a quiet environment, creating a naturally engaging time with my family. Among the dishes, the Lobster and Sea Urchin Consommé Jelly, along with the Stuffed Pig's Foot and Homemade Gnocchi, left a lasting impression. With each changing season, I find myself wanting to return to savor both the classic and seasonal dishes, making for a peaceful and delightful lunch. Less

The traditional French cuisine, inheriting the legacy of La Harmonie de Lumière in Gifu, combined with the chef's innovative ideas, was truly remarkable and incredibly satisfying. I had a wonderful time enjoying exquisite wine with close friends. This is definitely a restaurant I would love to visit again.

I visited for lunch after a long time to celebrate my partner's birthday. I was surprised that the owner remembered me even after more than 10 years. We enjoyed delicious food and drinks while having a relaxing time. The main meat dish was excellent, but the white asparagus served as an appetizer was particularly delightful. It was a great meal!

You can definitely enjoy a satisfying meal at lunch, so why not start there? The veteran female server has a refined and elegant presence, making her the face of the restaurant. However, I was slightly disappointed with the younger female staff member. While the service was satisfactory, her explanations of the menu were difficult to understand due to her unclear and fast speech. Clear communication about the dishes enhances the dining experience, and ultimately, whether I return often depends on receiving consistently pleasant service. Given the exceptional quality of the food, I hope for improvements in service, hence the -1 point. Less
This restaurant is located just right outside the subway exit. I was surprised at how close it was. Even though it was raining, I was able to enter the restaurant without getting wet. The reasonable course offered a generous portion, and the dishes were not only beautiful but also delicious. The dessert selection was impressive and truly the highlight of the meal.
I visited a famous French restaurant. I had imagined it would be a classic French style, but it turned out to be more of an innovative take on authentic French cuisine. Every dish was delicate and visually stunning, and the food was absolutely delicious.
Visited in May 2026.Personally, I really enjoyed the Sakura Masu (Cherry Salmon) Mi-cuit; it had a unique texture that left a lasting impression on me.The classic dishes, including Sea Urchin and Lobster with Consommé Jelly, Cauliflower Cream, and Quail Stuffed Confit, were also delicious.I believe this restaurant offers satisfaction that exceeds its price.

Beautiful restaurant with even more beautiful dishes from Limoges in France.
Classic French cuisine, but at the same time light with sparse use of butter.
The Canadian lobster dish was the highlight of the meal, its texture prefect, and the sauce adding a wonderful echo of the sea to it.
