The moment I realised that Chef Johnson Ebenezer, along with key chefs, Mythrayie Iyer and Avinash Vishaal, were behind Farmlore, I knew I was in good hands.

I first met Chef Johnson when he launched Nadodi in KL some 10 years ago. I recall being impressed with the bold concept; and the innovative, creative dishes I tasted.

A decade on, the magic is still there! Chef Johnson has kept his grounded cooking style, and now used the bulk of the seasonal harvest from his 37–acre farm. The dishes, seemingly modern, employ cooking techniques adapted from ancestral foodways.

Living in Singapore where South Indian flavours abound, I thought I knew the cuisine. Yet somehow the chefs at Farmlore have managed to conjure new interpretations that gave these familiar flavours a twist I didn’t expect.

@goldendinerny more than lived up to its reputation with its world-famous pancakes and New American diner food. The Honey Butter Pancakes were light, fluffy, and worth every bite, served with honey maple butter and finished with just a touch of fresh lemon zest. The Matzoh Ball Soup was the best I’ve ever had, with an incredibly light matzoh ball, vegetables, and a hearty homemade chicken broth. The Vegan Grilled Cheese & Kimchi Tomato Soup was delicious enough to win over even non-vegans, made with vegan chili cheddar, smoked gouda, and garlic oil, served on griddled white bread with a side of kimchi tomato soup. @nozmarket — One of NYC’s most popular standing hand roll bars from the team behind the acclaimed @sushinoz. Serving fresh seafood flown in from Japan, and a handroll lineup the mixes traditional Japanese hand rolls with a few distinctly New York creations, all wrapped to order in warm, crisp nori.
