This is the most famous Japanese restaurant in Osaka. On this day, we were served grilled sweetfish, which was crispy and absolutely delicious. For the final dish, instead of eel, we had grilled conger eel.The chef's remark, "These days, some Japanese restaurants serve various dishes like takikomi gohan, but in the end, plain white rice is the best," really resonated with me. I completely agree. Moreover, there is a unique sense of tension here. The expressions of the apprentices are sharp and precise.In... More

Honko GetsuThis place is a well-known and highly regarded restaurant in Osaka, where reservations are incredibly hard to come by.I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit.Everything was simply exquisite. From the tableware to the dishes, everything was of high quality, perfectly paired with the right sake for each dish...The ikura (salmon roe) was unforgettable and truly a standout item.

Today was a bit chilly. The food being delicious is a given! How good it is really depends on personal taste. What makes this restaurant exceptional is its grandeur. There’s definitely a different aura here. Everything feels divine. Truly, it’s the pinnacle of dining.Once you experience the best, your standards rise. Well, that’s the kind of place this is. It’s not really a spot for taking lots of photos.

I visited a very famous restaurant in Namba. It's located just a stone's throw from Dotonbori, where the atmosphere is lively and bustling with tourists. However, as soon as you step into Hozenji Yokocho, the noise fades away, and you are greeted by a charming ambiance. It's amazing how just a short walk down a narrow alley can change the atmosphere so completely. The entrance of the restaurant itself exudes a lovely traditional vibe.I took plenty of photos of the dishes, but unfortunately, I can't... More

Two people (i)It had been a while since my last visit to Honko Getsu. Although it was a typhoon day, the storm was expected to pass overnight, so I felt safe coming here. As always, the meals prepared by Mr. Anami are truly educational. The attention to detail in the way the food is served, the ingredients used, the cooking methods, and even the tableware is remarkable. This is a dining experience you can only have here. It was a great meal!

in osaka, japan (jan’24)

one of the most famous washoku restaurants in osaka, housed in dotonburi, tucked in a small alleyway filled with very touristy restaurants. really loved the ambience here, 3 floors of a small traditional japanese house, with the counter seats on ground floor and the private room on the top floor.

the ingredients here weren’t pristine but cooking was very good, very very traditional kaiseki. preparations here were also very precise, hassun was beautiful with small details... More

Honkogetsu 本湖月 1st visit — highly rated kaiseki in Osaka, photos not allowed but still deserves a post. Traditional setting, seasonality here is reflected in both ingredients and tableware. In fact tableware is a major part of the experience — one dish was served in a 200+ years old bowl. Some highlights were shoro mushroom, uni & kare wrap, grilled torigai, and whale saetsuri (tongue) & hana sansho shabu. The experience would have been even better had I spoken Japanese as the chef also... More
