Recommended bowl: Ramen & fried rice

Super famous old school Kyoto shop, open since 1938 and located just minutes from Kyoto station. The soup is a dark, clear shoyu, and almost everyone gets a side of yaki meshi, or fried rice. It's located next door to another famous shop, Daichi Asahi Takabashi, and both shops draw lines on the regular. Shinpuku Saikan now even has branches in Tokyo, but nothing compares to the original flagship.

Very dark Shoyu broth with thin noodles and plenty of scallions. The tamagotchi is not cooked but they only put a raw egg on top of the soup. On the tales you find some hot chilli paste which you can use to change the taste after you ate the first half.
Great place which is open all day until late.
