The real star of the show is getting zero hype and I need to set the record straight -> swipe to find out
As usual this is an unsponsored, unannounced, self-funded, brutally honest food review. This place has upscale vibes but it’s actually casual and chill. American-Chinese with fusion into other cuisines, which makes the menu have fun creations... More
My birthday getaway to NYC was made special by so many events, chiefly lunches at the beguiling Borgo and Four Horseman; dinners at The Dutch and 425, the latest attraction from Jean-George Vongerichten; drinks at Commerce Inn in the West Village; and getting spit on by Jonathan Groff, the toast of Broadway and the star of “Just in Time.” Looking... Morning baking. Headed down to the MN Bars Bake Sale at @grazenorthloop in the North Loop. From noon to 2 p.m. (and lots of other fun from 2-4) you can pick up bars (pronounced buh-arzz in Minnesota-speak) from nearly 50 Twin Cities bakers, including yours truly. It's a benefit for the @thesaltcurefund, an extraordinary effort... More
My breakfast sandwich obsession continues, this time with a return visit to @heathersmpls. But the second I got my food, it made sense.
This place is chaotic — but the flavors are bold, addictive,... More
My favorite dish at the cozy Baby Bistro: Gently crisp sweetbreads and soft-cooked carrots on a puddle of celery root puree sharpened with blue cheese — a convincing twist on Buffalo chicken wings. (Calabrian chile oil helped.)
I ate at 5 of Miami’s most talked-about pizza spots in one night… and the results were not what I expected.
Some fully lived up to the hype.
Some were just… fine.
And one was a complete letdown.
Miami is not the first city that comes to mind for pizza, but after this crawl, I may have better pizza game than Boston 🙊
No invites, no free... More
Every time I’m in Miami, my friends take me to the spots they actually eat at. These are the ones I keep going back to.
From Lebanese to Peruvian seafood to some of the best pizza in the city — this is the list I’d send anyone who asks me where to eat in Miami. No hype. Just places that are genuinely worth it.
Save this for your next Miami trip…... More
