Toriki とり喜1st visit — located in Sumida district, quite highly rated and popular among locals. The skewers themselves are pretty good (except the shiitake which was a bit dry), and interesting to learn the proper way to debone the chicken wings. However, the service was very slow and inefficient, the meal took almost 3 hours which was probably the longest yakitori meal I’ve ever had. With only 13 skewers and no rice/noodle/etc at the end I was still a little hungry (although feeling healthy)... More

Juicy and flavourful, and served at a nice, hot temperature. The uzura and chōchin were magical and the main takeaway is that I also learned finally learned how to eat tebasaki properly. Located not far from Kinshicho station, the chef shows a perfect balance between being properly focused during meal service and then relaxed after. Boom!
