Tempura Ginya 天ぷら銀屋 1st visit — a 2 Michelin star tempura restaurant but somehow overlooked. Classic style and very good quality. The most impressive dish was Uni, dipped directly in batter instead of being wrapped in shiso leaf or nori, then fried to perfection. The moroko fish from Biwa lake was also delicious and rare. •

This 2 star restaurant serves seasonal tempura cooked at very high temperature at a light batter.
Outstanding dishes were the shrimp heads, the uni and shirako tempura.
