The sardine and anago had a melt-in-your-mouth texture, almost like liquid. The appetizers were also great; the sawara was cut finely on the skin side, making it easy to eat, and the chawanmushi was enhanced with a bit of rice, making it quite delicious. I wanted to have seconds!● Impression As always, the atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. The younger crowd seems to be having a great time, full of energy and excitement. Mr. Tanabe's shy smile is also incredibly charming!● Other It seems that the apprentices are very dedicated to their craft, exploring various restaurants. I noticed their thoughtful approach, such as starting conversations face-to-face after quietly coming to the counter from behind the seats. This kind of awareness is rare and shows great potential for growth. Less

I’ve known @mikejchau since my early days on Instagram, and over the years I’ve watched him become one of New York’s biggest supporters of local restaurants and small businesses. So it’s pretty special to see him and his family take over the neighborhood pizzeria he grew up going to as a kid.
Tomorrow, @masanipizza officially opens its doors in Forest Hills, taking over the space that so many locals knew as Lillian Pizzeria. Named after Mike and Alexandra’s three children, Masani Pizza is their way of honoring the memories they made there while creating new ones for the next generation.
I had a chance to stop by for a preview, and it’s exactly the kind of neighborhood pizzeria you’d hope for. Great pizza, classic favorites, and a genuine sense of community behind it all.
Congratulations, Mike and Alex. Wishing you and the entire team nothing but success. I can’t wait to see this next chapter unfold!

I’m so happy for my friends Ruben and Julio on the opening of @Bark_Barbecue’s second location in Bushwick. Watching their hard work turn into something like this has been incredible to see.
The new space at 25 Thames Street is massive. It feels like you’ve stepped into a Texas barbecue joint, but the food is uniquely Bark. They’re also open for both lunch and dinner, and now have a cafecito program if you just want to stop by for coffee.
Bark has become one of my favorite barbecue spots in New York because they do something different. Dominican flavors with traditional Texas barbecue techniques, and it’s one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back.
If you haven’t been yet, this is your sign. Make the trip to Bushwick and come hungry.
Congratulations again, Ruben and Julio. Wishing you both nothing but continued success. You deserve it!

The fish was fresh, the rice was seasoned nicely, and you can tell they’re putting a lot of care into the details. Some of the fish is dry-aged, while others are marinated in-house, adding another layer of flavor to each hand roll.
I genuinely enjoyed my meal here and was honestly surprised it wasn’t busier. If you’re in the neighborhood, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try.

I think this is one of the best new restaurant openings in NYC this year.
@somssi_nyc is the first restaurant from my dear friend Ahris, alongside JP and Ellia Park, and it’s a beautiful reflection of everything they’ve built their careers around. After years creating unforgettable dining experiences, they’ve opened a restaurant that feels deeply personal. The cooking draws inspiration from many places, but never feels tied to any one tradition. Everything is thoughtful, beautifully executed, and most importantly, delicious.
What makes me happiest, though, is seeing Ahris realize a dream that’s been years in the making. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of being welcomed by her, you already know the warmth and hospitality she brings to every room. Now she’s created a place that feels just like that.
Congratulations, Ahris, JP, and Ellia. I couldn’t be happier for you all.
If you’re looking for one new restaurant to check out, put Somssi at the top of your list. Swipe through to see all the deliciousness!

A few weeks ago, I was invited to @papasannyc for a special dinner featuring Chef @diegooka of La Mar alongside Chef @llama_erik. Their take on Nikkei cuisine brought together bright citrus, incredible seafood, and so many bold, layered flavors. It was such a fun way to see two talented chefs share the same kitchen for one evening.
A sincere thank you to the Papa San team for the invitation and the warm hospitality. It was a privilege to be there and experience something so special.
