The new Mayfair branch of @berenjaklondon - their flagship site in London - is their best location yet. The weekday regional lunch menu further proves that the restaurant is so much more than great kebabs and there is a serious level of skill and sophistication shown in a wide array of dishes. At 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗸, inspired by the hole-in-the-wall kababis of Iran, every dish feels both familiar and reimagined - smoky, vibrant, and full of heart❤️‍🔥

We started with 𝘁𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗻, a clay tanoor-baked sourdough, which paired perfectly with dips like the refreshing yogurt-based 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼 𝗸𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗿 and the smokey 𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗸 𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗷𝗼𝗼𝗻 with coal-cooked aubergine🥒

From the grill, the 𝗸𝗼𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗵 𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗯 stood out - minced lamb shoulder seasoned with onions and black pepper🍖 The 𝗷𝘂𝗷𝗲𝗵 𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗯, marinated in saffron, lemon, and yoghurt, was equally bright and flavourful🍋

The original Soho outpost is intimate - walk-ins are limited and queues often form before opening, but it is worth the wait⏳ For a little more breathing room, the Borough location offers the same soulful Persian cooking in a slightly larger space🪑

① 🐏Koobideh Kabab (£21): minced lamb

　　　aubergine, whey, walnuts, dried mint, onions
