No matter where I am in the world, I always need a Cantonese food fix. And when I’m in Honolulu, this is where I go.

Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown is run by Karen Tam and her family, and you can feel the hospitality the moment you walk in. It’s a true mom and pop spot, the kind of place that feeds you well and makes you feel taken care of at the same time.

They’re already known for having some of the best dim sum on the island, but their dinner deserves just as much attention. A lot of the dishes here are classics I grew up eating, familiar in the best way, cooked with intention and love.

And IYKYK….Their charsiu is something special. It can be reserved in advance, and it’s easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Deeply flavorful, beautifully done, and absolutely worth planning ahead for.
