Back in Honolulu for a hot minute to celebrate one of my favorite people at one of my favorite spots on the island.

I’ve been back to Māze a few times now, and every visit just reinforces how much I enjoy being here. If you remember it as Bar Māze, they’ve since shortened the name, but everything that made it special is still very much intact.

I’ve been back to Māze a few times now, and every visit just reinforces how much I enjoy being here. If you remember it as Bar Māze, they’ve since shortened the name, but everything that made it special is still very much intact.

I’m lucky to know the team behind it, and it’s been really special watching what they’ve built. There’s a level of care that shows up in everything, not just the food, but how the whole experience comes together.

The food is just really delicious. Thoughtful, well executed, and consistent across the board. The pacing of the meal feels right, and the service is attentive without ever getting in the way.

They were recently featured by The New York Times, which feels well deserved. It’s always nice to see good people doing great work get that kind of recognition.
