When you eat at a @chefseng restaurant (@thipkhaodc, @padaekdc, @hanumanh_dc, or the @khaopoondc pop-up), you are guaranteed a great meal. She has blessed the DMV with delicious Lao cuisine for years. Each restaurant’s menu seems to present a multitude of must-order dishes that inevitably please the palate. The many shades to her cooking seem endless. There’s always a lot going on in each plate or bowl that comes to the table. Lots of garlic. Lots of fish sauce. Definitely lots of nuanced flavors. To me, that translates to a lot of cultural heritage, pride, and love. I hope she will continue to cook for us for decades to come 🙏

Some dishes from the New Year’s Eve menu. Wonderful enough to warrant a place on the regular menu should she ever desire to put them there 🤤😋

1) Goong Daeng – Argentina red shrimp crudo, Lao salsa verde, paddlefish caviar

2) Khanom Jeeb – chicken and shrimp shumai dumpling, spicy soy sauce, scallion

3) Sakoo Yadsai – tapioca dumplings, preserved radish & peanut caramel, cilantro
