Located along the quiet banks of the Takase River in Kyoto, “Washoku San” offers an elegant escape from the bustle of central Kyoto and downtown Shijo🍃 Housed in a beautifully restored historic “Machiya” townhouse, this refined space focuses on showcasing the best seasonal ingredients sourced from across Japan, with a special emphasis on Kyoto’s local produce🌸

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel @genjikyoto - highlights of the course included the perfectly crisp tempura (as seen in the cover photo), and their fragrant handmade soba (buckwheat noodles) served at the end of the meal as the perfect finale🥢 Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and served on an impressive collection of antique tableware, and we will most certainly be back!🏺
