Shinzo Omakase is still the best rated sushiya in all of New York on Google, a year later. Wild. I thought it was fine. Maybe I’m the crazy one (impossible). All my thoughts are at the sushi legend dot com and read more nyc recs at nycsushiguide dot com @dassai_blue

For you lunch hunters - I’ve updated my nyc recs at nycsushiguide dot com by @dassai_blue Sushi Ann is one of those sushiya that doesn’t get the pub and yet seems to be constantly busy. For good reason. Go nuts.

Azabu in Tribeca is quickly becoming NYCs version of sushi park. Celebrity sightings are regular. The key difference? the sushi is actually good. Not just downstairs at the den, a wonderful omakase counter I’ve reviewed before, but upstairs in the back room, best described as “tranquil” (I used thesaurus for that one). This is part of the $65... More

Finally made it back to the oldest sushiya in NYC - Hatsuhana - still going strong despite opening in 1976 (!). Packed at lunch, but sit upstairs at the counter if you can. Reminds me of LA sushiya - they keep serving until you say stop.

Full review, what I ate, how much it cost, etc can be found at the sushi legend dot com (linked in bio). Cheers... More

More from a recent visit to Kanoyama in the east village. Still an nyc staple. Full review, pics and long winded analogies can be found on my blog. Link in bio. Omakase was $185.

New review ✍️- Kanoyama round 2. 11 years after visit #1. Incredibly, the Omakase price has only risen $10. Still a very good sushiya but could be among city’s best with some small tweaks. Spoiler: too much jelly. Full description of everything pictured in review (link in bio). Still thinking about that modori-gatsuo (top right).

‼️ latest. Something a tad different. A review of Masa Sushi Napoli, but really a love letter to Naples and Ischia, two of my favourite places on this planet. Link in bio.

✍️ new blog - sushi park in West Hollywood gets the headlines but Toku around the corner is much better. And shame on me for not diving into their unagi. Link in bio.

This was $65 (Temaki not pictured).
