Located about a 4-minute walk from Yotsuya Sanchome Station, OHKUSA is a yakitori restaurant nestled in a corner of Arakicho, a bustling area filled with various dining options. The interior features only 8 counter seats.Photography and videography are prohibited inside the restaurant, allowing guests to focus solely on the culinary experience. I enjoyed a course that showcased a variety of chicken parts, primarily featuring Takasaka chicken, along with Kyo-Kouji chicken and Chiba prefecture's free-range chicken. The course included the following dishes:- Kyo-Kouji chicken breast- Fig with burrata- Takasaka chicken thigh (middle red meat)- Chiba prefecture free-range chicken heart- Chiba prefecture Oomasa rice- Takasaka chicken breast- Takasaka chicken liver- Takasaka chicken and chestnut soup- Takasaka chicken thigh- Kyo-Kouji chicken back fat- Shizuoka prefecture Amela tomatoes- Chicken wings- Risotto cooked in Takasaka chicken brothUsing Takasaka chicken, Kyo-Kouji chicken, and free-range chicken, the course artfully combined different parts with fruits, vegetables, and seasonal soups, culminating in a risotto made with chicken broth. It was a thoroughly satisfying experience from start to finish. One of the standout features of OHKUSA is the noticeable size of the skewers. Compared to typical yakitori, the meat is thicker, giving each skewer a remarkable presence. Not only are they large, but the cooking technique ensures that the thick chicken is cooked through while retaining moisture and the unique textures of each part.Without the distraction of photos, I was able to fully immerse myself in the meal. Reservations can be challenging, but this is a place I would love to visit again and again.
