In Texas this weekend for the SMOKE BBQ Showdown at @omnibartoncreek and pre-gaming with up a few Austin BBQ spots. First up, newcomer @churchrowbbq for a couple of tacos and a little soccer, too.
La Valentina, with two thick slices of brisket, has a great beefy punch of post oak smoke that merges with the soft flour tortilla and a surge of fragrant heat from fire-roasted salsa. I might like La Tejanita even better, for the smoky chopped chicken thighs get a fine, slightly crunchy vegetal bite of roasted poblano and red onions.
