Recommended bowl: Old school Chinese
This Chinese restaurant and ramen shop has been open and operating since 1946. The menu is extensive, with some popular choices including ebi soba or gomoku soba with shrimp and vegetables. In autumn and winter, there is a seasonal kaki (oyster) soba. The restaurant’s standard chicken and pork soup base is added to a wok along with fresh oysters (including oyster juice) sourced from Okurokami island, Hiroshima. The noodles are special ordered using the same recipe for over 72 years. Other toppings include shimeji and shiitake mushrooms, fresh bamboo shoots. Gyoza available on the side.
