Recommended bowl: Soba since 1931
Harukiya Honten in Ogikubo, another shop with a rich history. This establishment was opened as a soba restaurant in 1931, by original master Imamura-san, who came to Tokyo from Nagano Prefecture. Imamura-san's older brother worked on the staff for several years until 1949, when he left and decided to open a ramen shop nearby. The Harukiya ramen shop opened by the elder brother is considered one of the legendary old-school ramen shops of Tokyo. It is beloved by many, still serving the same recipe since 1949. This original Harukiya soba restaurant now has ramen on the menu, using an unique original recipe. The soup is a clear chintan of tonkotsu, kombu and niboshi. Noodles are homemade in the shop, including the recommended soba noodles. Still a soba restaurant at heart. Open since 1931.
