Recommended bowl: Nostalgic Tokyo
This nostalgic Tokyo shop has been family run and operated in the same location since 1977. The surrounding neighborhood has been transformed throughout the years with the influx of office buildings and skyscrapers, but Yamadaya remains. The menu here is Chinese influenced, with numerous stir-fries available in addition to ramen. Recommended is the chashumen, which essentially is an old-school bowl of Tokyo shoyu ramen ladened with extra slices of tender stewed pork chashu. The chashu here is excellent. Also not to be missed are the housemade pan fried gyoza dumplings.
