Recommended bowl: Open 60+ years

Open since 1947, Masutani holds old school legend status within the Kyoto ramen scene. The shop is almost more of a shack than a shop, and looks like it hasn’t been updated in years. Quintessential Kyoto-style ramen with no frills is what you will find. Chicken and pork soup, topped with pork fat and a generous pile of negi. Masutani now has several branches outside of Kyoto but this is the original spot.
