Akasaka Kikunoi 赤坂菊乃井 1st visit — beautiful setting, an oasis in the heart of bustling Akasaka, definitely reminds me of its honten in Kyoto. Decent food, well prepared and presented but nothing mind blowing. Favorite dish was the winter melon fukahire soup, quite Chinese. The atmosphere was very commercial and touristy — they even printed a cookbook in English with detailed explanation on each dish, very foreigner friendly but also means they rarely invent new dishes.. •
