📸: This is a @joedistefanoqns pick in Elmhurst, Queens. He says @asiantaste.86 is the oldest Indonesian restaurant. When I saw his video of the nasi bungkus platter, I put it at the top of my list to try. This one had fried tilapia and this incredible green chile sauce, very fishy delicious.
-I didn’t really take pictures of the meal but @sushikaitonyc is the best omakase deal I’ve ever experienced. $115 gets you 17 courses with premium fish, in a Japanese minimalist sushi counter. 10/10
- Rachel showing up with two bonkers soups from @padidnyc inside the @urbanhawker food hall. The darker one is a fishy sweet noodle soup called mee rebus. The other coconutty one is called lontong, and it had these hearty rice cakes in there that reminded me of matzah balls. They call this Singaporean malay food.
- @dawasnyc is a chic Nepalese gem in Sunnyside, Queens with a boho aesthetic and gorgeous platewear. some locals recommend the citrus salad, which had yogurt in it. I enjoyed but I was more impressed with these veggie momos and the rich squash stew, called farsi.
-Suddenly I looked at Rachel and I had one of those aha moments, like I was seeing her in a new way. She’s always been a New Yorker I just didn’t know!
