At first we just exchanged greetings in broken Japanese/English, but once we realized Chef Yoneda-san spoke Spanish, there was no longer a language barrier. Love these moments! ? (Yes, there’s a beautiful olive tree in the center of the restaurant!)

SHÓKUDŌ YArn is a truly unique and fun restaurant in the outskirts of Kanazawa. It's a mix of Spanish, Italian, and Japanese gastronomy with all of the ingredients sourced locally. Chef and Owner Yuji Yoneda previously worked in Spain at Martín Berasategui, Mugaritz, and elBulli and then moved on to work for 5 years in Tuscany. There are only 4 people total working in the restaurant, overlooking just 4 tables in private rooms. The attention to detail and service was impeccable. It was also fun conversing with the Chef and staff in Spanish as they all spoke Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. ??????
