Hira Sanso, a highly sought-after restaurant deep in the mountains of Hira, Shiga Prefecture, is known for its difficulty in securing reservations.I visited during the ayu (sweetfish) season.The menu featured many surprising dishes, including bear meat, which I don’t usually eat.There were plenty of ayu dishes, and while the grilled ayu was delicious, the ayu rice was absolutely outstanding.I wonder when I can visit again.
