I visited this restaurant for lunch after accompanying my wife to her hospital appointment following a morning run. Located on the 37th floor of the Mandarin Oriental, this renowned establishment offers stunning views along with exquisite Cantonese cuisine. I had been curious about this place for a while, and finally made my first visit this time.I had pre-reserved a weekday-only lunch course featuring six dishes plus dessert. The first dish was SENSE's superior broth. Made with pork belly and chicken, it contains no added seasonings. I was amazed at how rich and flavorful it was, purely from the ingredients themselves. The second dish was fried garlic prawns. The prawns were large and succulent, perfectly complemented by the garlic flavor, making it an outstanding dish. The third dish was a soup made without any animal products, featuring vegetables, mushrooms, and fruits. It included Korean ginseng and rare Chinese mushrooms, resulting in a deeply flavorful broth. The fourth dish was steamed Okinawan sea bream with scallions and ginger. The steamed fish was generously topped with Kujo scallions and seasoned with a fish sauce, creating a delightful harmony of textures and flavors. The fifth dish was sweet and sour pork. It used three types of black vinegar, including two from China and Okinawa's moromi vinegar, paired with Yamayuri pork from Kanagawa. The high-quality pork was perfectly coated in the three types of black vinegar, resulting in an incredibly delicious sweet and sour pork. The sixth dish was prawn wonton noodles. The prawn wontons paired with the exquisite broth from the first dish made for a perfect combination. For dessert, I chose almond tofu, which I shared with my wife who selected mango pudding. Both desserts were undeniably delicious.Every dish was exceptional, truly reflecting the quality expected from the Mandarin's main dining establishment. I would love to return again if the opportunity arises.
