I absolutely wanted to visit Aka Kichi! Since I was alone, I made a reservation about two weeks in advance. You take off your shoes and step up to the 6-seat counter. ♡Here’s what I had this time↓↓■ Igisu Tofu with Vinegar Miso and Cucumber This seems to be a local dish. ♩■ Soft Roe and Egg Jelly of Hamo The aroma of Matsutake mushrooms was incredible. It had a slightly strong flavor, making it a perfect snack to pair with drinks!■ Fried Managatsuo and Octopus The chef came out to serve us. The Nanban vinegar was so delicious that I wanted to drink it! Haha. The Managatsuo was incredibly fluffy! The octopus was cooked to perfection—neither tough nor too soft, just the right amount of bite and crispness.■ Arm of Okose The broth made from the head and tail was rich, and the moment it hit my mouth, I felt pure happiness. ♡ The aroma of Sansho pepper and the fluffy, tender meat of the Okose was just too delicious.■ Crispy White Sweetfish It came with grated Japanese radish and lemon, but it was perfect on its own—I'd give it a 120 out of 100 for taste...■ Grilled Anago Is it really this juicy and plump?! It had no fluffiness at all, just incredibly juicy. I heard it changes texture in 10 seconds, so I ended up eating it before taking a photo! Haha. There were actually two pieces.■ Sashimi of Managatsuo I heard it’s delicious because Mr. Fujimoto prepares it. Apparently, Managatsuo is not usually served as sashimi. I tried to find any unpleasant smell, but of course, there was none. ←■ Kijihata The more you chew, the more flavor it releases! It was sweet, rich, and delicate. ♡ The Aramasa No.6 was sweet and didn’t quite match the quality of the fish.■ Kijihata (Akou) Stew The gentle aroma of green onions and the sweet broth. ♡ This was an unforgettable deliciousness... ❤️ It had a hint of Chinese aroma, and I just wanted to keep eating it...✨Now onto the sushi↓↓■ Kensaki Squid from Uwakai The rice was warm! Freshly cooked! What a surprise! The squid was cut in a way that highlighted its springy texture. ■ Hobou It had a slightly crunchy texture with a hint of sweetness. ❤︎ Even without fat, it was flavorful!!■ Kijihata This one was even crunchier! I didn’t know there was Kijihata sushi. It had a strong texture reminiscent of the Setouchi region. ♡■ Managatsuo So sweet and melts in your mouth. I love the sweetness that blends with the rice.■ White Sweetfish It had a truly sweet and rich aroma. The sweetness spread throughout my mouth, even to my head. This was delicious.■ Higesori Tai Apparently, it’s a summer fish from Setouchi! It had a crunchy texture, and while it’s said to have a bitterness like green tea catechin, this time it was all about the umami without any bitterness. ♩■ Marinated Aji Sushi So delicious! The crispy, thick seaweed paired perfectly with the plump Aji!■ Hamo and Hamo Swim Bladder with Matsutake Soup The Matsutake soup was also delicious. Is the swim bladder really this soft? It had a squishy texture.■ Red Uni It wasn’t soaked in myo-inositol or on the board, so it had no off-putting aroma. It was delicious without any off-flavors. ♡■ Anago with Sauce Sushi When forming it, the chef placed the Anago on shiso leaves to wrap it! This was to prevent it from sticking to his hands and falling apart. The Anago was fluffy yet tightly packed.■ Tamago Sushi Served with Aka Kichi's special nori from Mikuniya in Hiroshima. ♡ When I added soy sauce, it tasted like egg rice!■ Hakata Salt Ice Cream Just vanilla, and it was super delicious. Adding salt made it even better. If you ask, they’ll serve it with Yamazaki 12 years, but I found it delicious as it was, so I didn’t need it!For Japanese sake, I asked for something fresh and sweet, and here’s what I got↓↓□ Aramasa No.6 Light and sweet, and as expected, it’s fresh... It was so delicious that I couldn’t keep up with the chaser beer! Haha.□ Sushi Shida Crisp and slightly dry, perfect with sushi! As expected!□ Kakushiken A sake from Uchiko in Ehime. I had the impression that Ehime sake was spicy, but this one was sweet and refreshing, great with food!□ Fuki Mouken I was surprised to learn there was sake from Uchiko! The chef served this one, and it was easier to drink, not spicy but refreshing and easy to enjoy! I might really like Sakuroku Brewery!!!Ahh. I’m completely satisfied. The portion was just right, even for someone like me who hasn’t had much course dining lately, so I think it’s perfect for women too! It was just the right amount without being too compact. It was a great meal! ♡_________________________________ I introduce date spots and gourmet outings! ♡ ▶︎▶︎ @tsuneo_official ◀︎◀︎ For those who love gourmet food in Kansai & Shikoku, let’s be friends! ♩♩ _________________________________
