A regular meeting with the usual members. As always, it’s a luxurious gathering. This time, four of us gathered in a private room. While it feels like this has become the norm, it’s quite a blessing when you think about it.We started by quenching our thirst. And right away, we had medium fatty tuna. The Ryujiro style is pure bliss! From there, we returned to a one-dish style.Sashimi, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), abalone, seasonal vegetables, eel, and soba noodles with a pleasant plum flavor. You can really feel the craftsmanship in each dish. I’m a huge fan of chawanmushi, so I was naturally excited, but even more so, each dish gave off a strong sense of "this is expertly done!"I love nigiri sushi, but when I visit a place with such skilled artisans, I find myself enjoying the appetizer time just as much. And then onto the nigiri. This is where the happiness accelerates! Each piece takes me on a journey to a flower garden as I close my eyes.Squid, sweet shrimp, marinated fish, horse mackerel, lean tuna, fatty tuna, seasonal fish, sea urchin, anago (sea eel), egg, and kan-tama (egg custard).Just laying them out is impressive. Plus, each piece is infused with the artisan's skill. It’s not just about the ingredients. It’s about the temperature, the knife work, and the way it’s shaped. Each piece has a different expression, making it fascinating.Among them, the standout this time was the sweet shrimp. Honestly, I might have been so impressed that I could have lost my hair!Sweet. Rich. And the attention to detail is remarkable.I was astonished at how they could bring out the sweetness of the shrimp to such a level. I could eat a hundred of them. Before I knew it, I was laughing, eating, and drinking the whole time until the end. I can’t thank my friends enough for continuing to host such a happy regular meeting.
