A friend is coming from Tokyo, so we decided to visit Zeshin, a top-rated Japanese restaurant in Kitashinchi. We started with the appetizer: abalone, tomato with zunda (edamame paste), and a soup. Each dish was delicious. The sashimi was just average.Next, we had tempura of young sweetfish and baby corn, and shrimp with cheese. Hmm, is this more geared towards foreign visitors? Then came the eel. I wonder if this is a choice that foreigners tend to prefer? The shrimp and Miyazaki beef were also tasty. The soft-shelled turtle rice was delicious as well.We finished with a jelly made from various fruits, which was also delightful. Finally, we had matcha with yokan (sweet bean jelly). While everything was good, I didn't experience any surprising flavors that made me think, "Wow, how did they come up with this idea?" Honestly, if I'm spending close to JPY 30,000, there are other places with more options.Everything was tasty, though. (Am I being too picky?)Most of the other diners were foreigners. It was a great meal.
