I heard that Nabeno-Ism will be closing in October, so I decided to visit this place that had caught my interest for a while. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning. The restaurant was almost fully booked with repeat customers. The interior is calm, and it has a lovely atmosphere with a view of the Tokyo Skytree right in front. The appetizers, gazpacho, and soba dumplings were quite good, and I thought I would want to bring someone here based on those dishes alone. The specialty soba dumplings were particularly impressive. They were so delicious that I took my time savoring them. However, the quality of the pairing from the start was disappointing. They served Shinano Seishu No. 6, but it felt wasted. It would have been better to enjoy each dish and drink separately. The pairing didn’t improve throughout the meal. The dishes in the second half had a strong ethnic flavor, perhaps because it’s summer? Some had a curry-like taste, and there was a sauce made with very heavy blue cheese.I’m not sure if it was just a matter of timing and personal preference, but I won’t be returning. Considering the price, the wine selection was lacking, and the cost-performance ratio wasn’t good.
