An Exceptional Yakiniku Experience — The Beef Tongue Was on Another LevelI visited Yakiniku Seiryuuen in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa for dinner with a group of six. We ordered beef tongue, mino, harami, yukhoe, fillet, sirloin, rice, kimchi, egg soup, and more. The total came to around JPY 17,000 per person. In one phrase, this was an exceptional yakiniku experience.Every cut of meat was impressive, but the beef tongue was on a completely different level. The balance between the lean meat and marbling was beautiful. As soon as I bit into it, there was a delicate, crisp texture unique to great beef tongue, followed by incredibly clean, rich fat spreading across the palate.Despite the marbling, it never felt heavy or greasy. The flavor lingered for just a moment before the meat seemed to melt away in my mouth.I’ve eaten beef tongue at many yakiniku restaurants, but this genuinely felt like something special.Another unforgettable dish was the fillet. It arrived in an impressively thick cut, almost like a steak. Despite its size, the meat was incredibly tender and practically melted the moment I put it in my mouth. The contrast between its bold appearance and delicate texture was remarkable. The harami, sirloin, mino, yukhoe, and everything else we tried were also excellent. There wasn’t a single dish that felt like an afterthought.Normally, when dining with friends, conversation is a big part of the experience. But several times during this meal, I completely forgot about talking because I was so focused on tasting the meat in front of me.It wasn’t simply “delicious.” It was the kind of meal that genuinely moved me.The restaurant itself was lively and energetic while still being clean and comfortable. Despite the quality of the meat, the atmosphere wasn’t overly formal, so we could relax and simply enjoy the experience. The hospitality was also excellent. The proprietress was particularly memorable, recommending both the right dishes and appropriate portions based on our group. Being able to trust her recommendations made the experience even more enjoyable. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be how difficult it is to get a reservation. At the same time, that scarcity arguably adds to the sense of occasion and makes finally being able to eat here feel even more special. At around JPY 17,000 per person, it certainly isn’t inexpensive. However, considering the quality of the meat and the overall experience, I left completely satisfied. The beef tongue alone is worth coming back for.If I can get another reservation, I will absolutely return.
