Sushi RyujiroLocated between Gaienmae and Aoyama-itchome, this sushi restaurant is notoriously difficult to reserve. Thanks to a gourmet salon event, I finally had the chance to visit for the first time.We started with medium fatty tuna, and it was already delicious from the very first bite. Then came the appetizers, including a small rice bowl of tempura conger eel and corn egg tofu, both of which were exquisite and left me completely satisfied.The deep-fried sweetfish had a pleasant hint of bitterness that paired perfectly with sake (though I didn’t drink that day).The nigiri featuring the squid was among the best I’ve had recently, but it was overshadowed by the incredible sweetness of the botan shrimp and various types of tuna, along with sea urchin (both murasaki uni and additional akau uni).This restaurant not only serves delicious sushi rice, but the portions of both the toppings and rice are surprisingly generous for a high-end establishment, which was a delightful surprise.Lastly, the cucumber rolls I added were highly recommended, and they exceeded my expectations with the best flavor I’ve ever experienced. The precision of the cuts was at a level I had never seen before.I definitely want to come back to this restaurant. It was a great meal!
