During August, Hashimoto Ya is on summer break.I visited a few days ago, and as expected from a medal-winning restaurant, it was amazing. Before opening, I lined up outside, received a numbered ticket, and made a prepayment, then returned at my reserved time. However, with the heat warning this summer, waiting outside can be risky.I believe summer is the time for curry, but I learned that you need to be fully prepared to visit a renowned establishment. When I arrived with my ticket at the designated time, I was seated immediately.I ordered the rich curry at spice level 1, with extra tomatoes and extra meat.Once seated, rice and a clay pot were brought to my table.I read the printed instructions on the front about their commitment to quality and on the back about how to enjoy the dish.First, I tasted the clear broth of the curry. The soup was beautifully made and delicious. The spices made me sweat a bit.I mixed in the tomatoes while enjoying the meat, leaving the onsen egg aside for now.The onion pickles served as a nice palate cleanser. Finally, I added the rice to the clay pot and broke the onsen egg into it, making for a curry experience that can be enjoyed multiple times. The tomatoes provided a mellow umami flavor, the meat was tender and flavorful, and the onsen egg added a creamy richness. The broth was incredibly tasty without any greasiness, and the freshly ground spices were refreshing. It felt more like a vegetable soup than curry, yet even though I was full, I felt light afterward.I would love to return once the heat eases. It was a great meal!
