I had the pleasure of visiting Mikawa Zezankyo, where the tempura master, Saotome, skillfully controls the cooking process.As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a bright yet solemn atmosphere. While waiting at the counter, I enjoyed watching Saotome prepare the tempura and the diligent work of his apprentices, which was a delight in itself.The tempura was, of course, delicious—truly exceptional. There’s simply no other way to describe it. The staff who attended to us were equally impressive, providing thoughtful service and attention to detail that made the experience even more enjoyable.I lost track of time; it was an experience that flew by in an instant. At the end, Saotome himself signed the menu for me and even saw me off as I left.I realized that it’s these small gestures that create such profound moments.
