Nestled in a quiet alley, Suetomi stands modestly, almost easy to miss. The interior has a simple and calming atmosphere, featuring a counter and two private rooms. The head chef is humble yet engaging, sharing interesting stories in a friendly manner. The owner is gentle and knowledgeable about alcohol, helping to select the perfect drink to complement your meal. Here’s the course meal we enjoyed:- Abalone and Kintoki Greens - Sea Eel and Winter Melon Soup - Sashimi (Mirugai, Sea Urchin, Flounder) - Soba Noodles, Okra, and Junsai - Kōze Fish and Sweet Long Pepper - Round Eggplant with Sesame Sauce - Grilled Sweetfish - Grilled Nodoguro (you can also choose grilled soft-shelled turtle) - Ise Lobster and Fresh Ginkgo - Hamo Hot Pot - Clay Pot Rice, Pickles, Dried Sardines, Cod Roe, and Beef Shigureni - Peach, Tea, and Watermelon Jelly The abalone was impressively large and tender, and the Kintoki greens were perfectly boiled and delicious. The sweetfish was served in a way that made it easy to eat, and then it was deep-fried and served again, crispy and delicate—absolutely delightful. Suetomi's grilled soft-shelled turtle is exceptional! The clay pot rice can be chosen from several varieties. While options like new ginger, sea urchin, and eel were available, I opted for plain white rice this time. The final dessert, the jelly, is always made with seasonal fruits, and I love the flavors of cherries, mangoes, and peaches that are in season. It’s something I always look forward to! This is a wonderful place where you can enjoy truly delicious food and drinks in a relaxed and unpretentious setting. Highly recommended!
