I made a reservation three months in advance for the OMAKASE experience. I wanted to treat my parents to their first Michelin three-star meal to express my gratitude. I only booked the course without any pairing, but when I mentioned I wanted wine that would complement the next dish, they brought me some, which was satisfying. Honestly, I’m not very knowledgeable about wine, so I appreciated that. For four people, it was around JPY 250,000. We each had about four drinks.A variety of dishes were served, and everything was delicious. The standout was definitely the specialty Bavarois. The combination of sweetness, saltiness, and milk flavor was just perfect. There is a smoking area within the commercial facility. However, after experiencing the top-ranked ramen in Japan (ranked 1-3 on Tabelog) and dining at Quintessence, my enthusiasm for Tabelog (food exploration) has cooled down. I’m writing this review two months after visiting Quintessence.I found myself focusing on the negative aspects of places with high Tabelog ratings or expensive prices, and I’ve come to realize that I’m more satisfied dining at nearby places that offer good value and a relaxed atmosphere where I can smoke. I’ve started to feel that enjoying a bowl of Tanmen from Hidakaya with a bottle of beer is the best way to end the day. I plan to continue my food explorations, but I want to focus on nearby places that prioritize cost performance and enjoy a more sustainable approach.
