This Chinese restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from Kitakōji in Kyoto. It opens at 4 PM, just before sunset, and the sunlight streaming through the windows creates a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere, reminiscent of the Forbidden City. I later realized why it felt like the Forbidden City; Chef Ueoka's overall style leans towards Beijing influences. The statue of Guan Yu holds a Qinglong Yian Nike sword, and the decor, along with the unique way of serving highballs, somehow evokes a sense of Beijing. The dishes mainly feature Hong Kong-style cuisine, and for appetizers, they even serve Tom Yum Xiao Long Bao.
