I learned that Higashiyama Ogata, which has become difficult to reserve, has a location in Higashiyama five years ago. I had been hoping to visit, but Kyoto has so many temptations, and I finally made it here. This building was designed by Nakamura Soi, and I was really looking forward to it. The architecture is stunning, and the garden is beautiful, making the dining experience exceptional while enjoying the view. However, I learned that the sweetfish from Shimane is a rare, non-farmed variety, but due to transportation issues, they are deep-fried before being grilled over charcoal. I felt that the sweetfish would have been more delicious if it had been served grilled with salt, as it tends to be fluffy and flavorful that way. Everything else was absolutely delicious!
