Nestled on the hillside of Kouri Island in northern Okinawa, French restaurant "6" offers a delightful dining experience.As I enjoyed a course meal made with local Okinawan ingredients, I gazed out at the sea through the window, savoring the moment.The first surprise was the array of vibrant amuse-bouches. From deep-fried shrimp on a pufferfish to pretzels infused with wild herb butter, each dish not only delighted the palate but also brought a smile to my face with its presentation.A standout was the roasted cauliflower, which took an hour to prepare and was served with an axe. As I made the first cut, the rich aroma of butter wafted up, and the sweetness slowly unfolded. I was amazed at how much emotion could be stirred by such simple ingredients.Throughout the meal, Okinawan ingredients, herbs, and flowers were artfully incorporated, allowing me to appreciate the richness of this land with each dish.The dessert plate that arrived at the end was also stunning, featuring an array of adorable bite-sized sweets, leaving me completely satisfied until the very last bite.This was a particularly memorable culinary experience during my trip to Okinawa, giving me yet another reason to return to Kouri Island.
