Located just a 4-minute walk from Nagahoribashi Station, I visited the BRONZE AWARD-winning curry restaurant, Hashimoto Ya. This is a pop-up shop that operates only for lunch on weekdays (Monday to Thursday).I arrived at 9:30 AM for the 10:30 AM ticket distribution and was the 7th in line. It seems the queue has gotten longer since last year. The ticket distribution started around 10:05 AM, and I secured a seat for 11:20 AM, with about 20 people in line at that point.I ordered the one-menu item, the Chicken Curry Rich Flavor for JPY 1,400, at level 2 spiciness (spicy). Orders are taken during ticket distribution and payment is in cash.Upon re-entering at the designated time, my curry was served in a clay pot, bubbling within 5 minutes. When I opened the lid of the clay pot, a rich aroma of spices wafted out, just as the menu name suggests. I first enjoyed the curry alone, then included the rice. The curry is made with about 20 types of carefully selected spices and herbs, and the aroma is truly exceptional! Using no water, the flavors of the Daisen chicken, natural Rausu kombu, and aromatic vegetables are extracted from the moisture of the onions, resulting in a deep and rich flavor that is addictive. At the end, I added rice and onion pickles, sprinkled some Sichuan pepper, and crushed an egg to enjoy a different flavor profile.I savored every bite until the very end.
