Just a 5-minute walk from Higashiyama Station, I visited "Shorenin Monzeki Mae Tsukioka," a restaurant recognized as one of Japan's top 100 Japanese cuisine establishments, awarded the Bronze Award.Located near the path leading to Yasaka Shrine and Chion-in Temple from the subway station, I made a reservation through Tabelog and arrived at noon on a weekday.Upon entering, the tatami-matted counter immediately caught my eye.I ordered the Omakase Course (Lunch) for JPY 15,000.The first dish, Hassun, featured a delightful variety of flavors, with the fragrant mushroom (Koutake) being particularly delicious. The sweetfish was also excellent, especially since it was filled with roe.The highlight was undoubtedly the main dish, the Sakaiya's beef from a mature cow, which was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. For the finale, I enjoyed the grilled eel with burdock from Ohara and sardine rice. The burdock had a wonderfully crispy texture. The sardine rice was enhanced by the rich yolk from the Hirako Chicken farm in Kobayashi City, Miyazaki Prefecture, which was a fantastic accent.Including dessert, every dish was delicious until the very end.【Today's Menu】1.
