I had been wanting to visit Fureika for a long time. Since lunch is reasonably priced, I made a reservation about a month in advance. On the day, I chose the Peking Duck Course for JPY 6,600.We started with appetizers. I’m not a fan of century egg, so they kindly changed it for me, serving two types of char siu (barbecued pork) and duck—what a meat feast! Personally, the char siu was the most impressive part of the course. The crispy fat on the char siu was particularly amazing (maybe because it was the first thing I tried?!).Next came the dim sum. The spring rolls were crispy, but despite being labeled as cream cheese and wasabi flavor, I couldn’t taste any wasabi at all. The soup was more substantial than I expected, filling me up, and the main dish, Peking Duck, was presented beautifully with the crispy duck before wrapping it up, which really lifted my spirits! I’ve never had Peking Duck before, so I can’t compare, but the sweet sauce paired well and was delicious. The stir-fried shrimp with shallots was reliably tasty, maintaining its deliciousness. The fried rice to finish was also good, featuring tomatoes. The char siu in the fried rice was flavorful, so it seems I really like Fureika’s char siu! For dessert, I was hoping for something light like mango pudding or almond jelly, but unexpectedly, we got caramel pudding. I thought it would be rich, but it was surprisingly delicious, leaving me very satisfied! I liked it so much that I want to go again!
