I visited Restaurant Naz in Karuizawa for dinner. The course menu, featuring summer vegetables and local Shinshu ingredients, left a strong impression. For the appetizer, there was a refreshing dish made with cucumber. The finely chopped texture and pleasant acidity were delightful, making it perfect for the hot season. The Shinshu salmon was rich in flavor yet light, showcasing the quality of the ingredients beautifully. One standout dish was a creative take on "oyaki" (a traditional Japanese dumpling). The outer layer was crispy while the inside was moist, seamlessly blending Japanese and Western elements. To finish, a pasta dish featuring fava beans was served, adding an unexpected twist while maintaining the overall harmony of the meal. The presentation was also beautiful, with each dish reflecting the season and local characteristics. I highly recommend this place for a more relaxed dining experience in Karuizawa.
