During our trip to Sapporo, my wife and I had lunch at Restaurant Moliere, located right in front of Hokkaido Shrine. They have a parking lot, but it's a half-basement that can be quite challenging to access unless you have a compact car. There might be other parking options, but we struggled a bit to find a spot.Since it was a Saturday lunch, I made a reservation about a month in advance, and it was definitely the right choice as the restaurant was fully booked on the day.We chose the Moliere course, named after the restaurant itself. My wife and I ordered a non-alcoholic sparkling drink, and as we took our first sip, the course began.- Gazpacho on the rocks- Fried fava beans- Freshly baked bread- 24 varieties of warm vegetables with 5 sauces- Boiled Biei asparagus- Risotto with Hokkigai (surf clam)- Lemon tea granita- Grilled Ezo venison with baked potatoes from Makubetsu- Milk gelato and a mini donutAt first, I thought the course might be a bit small in terms of variety, but by the end, I was pleasantly full, and it was a great value for the price. The gazpacho offered a tangy soup, and I enjoyed the contrast in temperature with the hot fritters. The freshly baked bread was steaming, allowing the butter to melt perfectly into it.The warm vegetable salad was beautifully presented, allowing us to appreciate the gradient of sauces without mixing them too much. This salad, packed with the flavors of Hokkaido's land, left the strongest impression on me throughout the course. The asparagus and risotto were equally impressive, building anticipation for the main dish. The main course of Ezo venison was cooked perfectly, achieving a beautiful rare finish, with outstanding texture and flavor. The dessert was a delightful surprise, balancing both excitement and stability, making me wish there were such a place in Tokyo! This is definitely a restaurant I want to visit again when I return to Hokkaido.Highly recommended!
