【Visit Date】Dinner on July 13, 2026【Order Details】Dinner Course (JPY 22,000)2 Draft BeersKokuryu Daiginjo Ryu (Half Go)Hanamura Junmai Ginjo Dewasansan (Half Go)Since I had some free time that day, I headed towards Kyoto after my part-time job. I got off at Hankyu Karasuma and walked about 10 minutes to SEN. I had been struggling to find an available seat for the OMAKASE, but finally found an opening for the short course at 7:45 PM, so I was delighted to visit.Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed there were about 9 seats at the counter. It was quite lively, with already 6 guests enjoying the expensive course that started at 6 PM. The short course from 7:45 PM consisted of 1 (me) and 2.As usual, I started with a refreshing draft beer, and the course began.Here’s what I had, and I apologize if I got anything wrong:● Kuzusomen with Abalone (from Miyazu Yoro area), Okra, Yuzu● Soup with Guji, Winter Melon, White Miso● Grilled Hamo, Yaitogatsuo, Soy Sauce/Salt/Onion Grated Ponzu● Hassun ・Jade Eggplant ・Homemade Karasumi (Salted Mullet Roe) Grilled ・Edamame ・Kuruma Ebi (Sweet Shrimp) ・Unagi Roll● Grilled Ayu (from Azumigawa), Corn Tempura, Tade Leaf, Uruka Vinegar (similar to Funazushi)● Shironasu (White Leaf Vegetable), Fried, Mixed with Nuta, Sesame● Hamo Shabu-Shabu, Bouzugoroshi, Ume Grated, Myoga, Ginger● Choose from 8 options for the final dish (others include White Rice, Nori Chazuke, Chicken Paitan) ・Grilled Mackerel Sushi ・Hamo Tempura Donburi ・Hamo Katsu Donburi ・Yanagi Soba ・Beef Tamagoshime● Simmered Green Plums, Japanese Water Shield, Wasanbon Honey● MatchaThe atmosphere in the restaurant felt very much like traditional Kyoto cuisine, both good and bad. The dishes featuring Hamo and the Beef Tamagoshime were great, but the Karasumi, Ayu, and Mackerel were overwhelmingly salty, which was disappointing. However, having 8 options for the final dish was a nice touch, allowing me to adjust the quantity based on my hunger. The presentation of the dishes was wonderful.I finished around 10 PM, and the total bill was JPY 27,951. I was completely full, so I thought I’d head back from Shimizu Gojo and catch some Mahjong.It was a great meal.
