I parked my car in a lot at the foot of the mountain and walked along a winding path. Just when I wondered how far I had to go, I finally spotted a magnificent gate. After a bit more walking, I arrived at the entrance while enjoying the view of a Japanese garden. Even though I hadn’t eaten anything yet, I already felt a sense of calm. What a lovely atmosphere! This time, I enjoyed a Western-style course meal. The appetizers included Tasmanian smoked salmon and roasted beef from Hida beef. It was quite a luxurious start to the meal, raising my expectations significantly! The seasonal soup was a chilled corn potage made from a variety called "Sweet Dolche." It was incredibly delicious! I wonder what the sugar content is. The natural sweetness of the corn was rich and intense, and the texture was smooth. I almost wished I could take it home in a bucket instead of a soup bowl! Next came the gratin. The surface was nicely browned, and it was filled with plenty of shrimp. It was creamy and rich without being too heavy—absolutely delicious! I burned my mouth; it was piping hot. Then came the main dish: beef cutlet. The cutlet made from top sirloin was a beautiful pink inside. The balance of the meat's flavor, tenderness, and the crispy coating, along with the sauce, was perfect. I haven’t had many beef cutlets, but this one might just be my favorite! Even the mashed potatoes, which were supposed to be a side dish, were surprisingly delicious. The side dish really stole the show! I added curry as an option for the rice. I thought it would be a nice addition, but it turned out to be so good that I found myself wanting to eat it by itself in large portions! Finally, I had the custard pudding. It wasn’t the trendy, runny type; instead, it was a classic, firm pudding that really showcased the flavors of its ingredients. The slight bitterness of the caramel was also delightful. I really love this kind of pudding! It was a bit of an adventure to get here. Once I arrived, I was soothed by the Japanese garden, and after enjoying the meal, I felt even happier. The time spent here was much more luxurious than I had imagined from the friendly-sounding "Western cuisine." On my way back, I walked with a bit of excitement, hoping I wouldn’t encounter any bears. Next time, I want to eat more curry. I came here to enjoy the main dish, but I ended up falling in love with the side option!
