On a weekday, I managed to take a half-day off and visited SPICY CURRY Roka, located just 1-2 minutes from Okubo Station. It was a long-awaited visit for me, as I had always found it a bit challenging to go there.I arrived before 8:30 AM and wondered about the line, but there were only four people ahead of me, so I quickly joined the end of the line. However, the queue grew rapidly, and by 9:00 AM, just 30 minutes before the reservation sign-up started, there were about 20 people waiting, so I was fortunate to have arrived at the right time. Just before 9:30 AM, they called out, "Thank you for waiting!" and the sign-up began. I successfully secured a slot for 10:50 AM.After signing up, I stepped away and returned to the restaurant 10 minutes before my reservation. The call for the lunch reservations began shortly before my time, and I entered the restaurant. After a brief explanation of the day's special curry by Eri, they started taking orders in the order of reservations.Looking at the menu, all the curries looked delicious, and I was torn between choices, but I decided to go with the Roka Plate and ordered the Roka Chicken Curry, along with a small curry of the limited seafood broth spinach masala and a lassi.As the curries were served in order of reservations, mine arrived as well. I was told, "Please mix everything together and enjoy!" I took a bite of the chicken curry, and it did not disappoint. When I tried the spinach masala, it was rich and flavorful with a deep seafood broth. As I mixed the side dishes, the braised pork rice, lettuce, and chicken curry together, I couldn't stop eating. The lassi was also thick and delicious. I finished everything in no time.While the curry was fantastic, I was particularly impressed by Eri, who was managing everything on her own. She prepared the curries efficiently while maintaining a calm atmosphere and made sure all the customers felt comfortable. It's no wonder this place is so popular.
