Fukuoka City Restaurant Sola May 2026 This trip to Fukuoka is all about relaxing and enjoying delicious food after a long week. The theme is to soak in hot springs and indulge in great meals. I decided to visit Sola, located at Hakata Port, after my friend's daughter recommended it. Lunch was JPY 9000 plus a 10% service charge. ⚪︎ Amuse-bouche - Crispy stick with avocado paste The ikura bursts in your mouth—delicious! This is the restaurant's specialty. - Surf clam and onion The surf clam has a firm texture and rich flavor. - Fennel and tomato tart - Snap pea soup with Italian cheese - Sea bream, squid, eggplant with a hint of sansho pepper - Smoked salmon It arrives in a box. When you open the box, smoke billows out. The salmon and popping caviar burst with flavor in your mouth. ⚪︎ Pumpkin focaccia with ricotta cheese The homemade ricotta is warm and fluffy. ⚪︎ Red shrimp, spear squid, and rockfish Served with saffron jelly. ⚪︎ Grilled tuna with new onion mousse The mousse is sweet, topped with pickled new onions, coriander, dill, and amaranth. The tuna is marinated and flavorful. ⚪︎ Grilled octopus and squid with vegetables Featuring locally sourced octopus from Oita and firefly squid, grilled asparagus, basil, fried garlic chives, grilled shishito peppers, and green tomatoes. ⚪︎ Wagyu steak I was expecting duck or pork for the main dish, but it was beef! ✨ Served with homemade mustard and salt—so delicious! - Parsnip (not a carrot, but a member of the celery family) It also includes Inka no Mezame (a type of potato) in a gratin-like dish, enhancing the sweetness of the Inka no Mezame. ⚪︎ Dessert A coconut meringue filled with Amaou strawberry crème brûlée, drizzled with lime and strawberry sauce. Although it was a course meal, coffee and tea were extra. When I was settling the bill, they offered a refill on the tea, but I wish they had explained that from the start. The drinks I ordered took a while to arrive as well. ⚪︎ Petit fours Matcha dacquoise. I ate so much and finished everything! Each ingredient's flavor was highlighted and delicious.
