I arrived at 8:45 AM before the opening and joined a line of over 20 people waiting to register. By 9:00 AM, the number had reached 30. I suspect many early risers and those on vacation were there due to the Japan-Netherlands match in the World Cup that started at 5 AM. The place filled up quickly, and although the earliest slot was at 1:00 PM, I managed to secure a reservation for 1:40 PM.When I registered, I was greeted by Mr. Saito, who is often seen on TV. It seems that the morning lineup filled up quickly due to the number of people that followed. Returning at the reservation time, I ordered the Roka Plate for JPY 1,200, with lamb curry. The Roka Plate consists of braised pork rice and one type of curry. If you imagine a typical braised pork rice, you might be surprised as it only has pork on top. Instead, the pork and curry blend together, creating a different dish altogether. In that sense, I felt a bit disappointed and wished I had chosen a combination. However, the quality of the curry was outstanding. While Japanese people may not be instinctively accustomed to strong spices, this curry struck a perfect balance between authentic spice and flavors that appeal to Japanese tastes. The fusion of the spices and the richness of the lamb was truly delicious.Although I had high expectations for this famous restaurant, the quality was undoubtedly impressive. The prices were also very reasonable, which I appreciated!
