I visited Sushi Mimuro in Hitoyoshi Kumamoto during my trip to Southern Kyushu, having made a reservation based on its great reputation. The interior, featuring a natural wood theme, was bright and comfortable. We opted for the Omakase, starting with somen noodles topped with abalone liver sauce and sea urchin, followed by sashimi of stone bream and whiting. The grilled dishes included fried mejikari, hotaru ika (firefly squid), and shima ebi (striped shrimp) paired with a unique sake dish, as well as a salad of blue crab and mango jelly, and a vinegared dish of mozuku seaweed and junsai (water shield). We also enjoyed 13 pieces of nigiri, all expertly crafted in the Edomae style, delivering an exceptionally high-quality taste. The selection of sake was impressive, and we indulged ourselves. With such a generous variety and portion sizes, we enjoyed 3 go of sake and 3 beers for under JPY 20,000! I was amazed by the incredible value for money.
