This is a spice curry specialty shop run by a single owner. The owner, Mr. Saito, trained for seven years at the renowned restaurant "Eric South" before going independent. He has appeared in various media, including the documentary "Jounetsu Tairiku," showcasing his dedication to creating a unique dining experience.● Crowdedness Usage: Lunch Visit Date: A cloudy weekday Arrival Time: Visited by reservation Number of Seats: 6 (estimated)It operates on a reservation-only basis, with a sign-up sheet for registration. For lunch, they start accepting reservations around 9:30 AM, but the first guests often line up as early as 7:00 AM.You can reserve your preferred time slot in the order you arrive. While I was dining, a few walk-ins arrived, but upon learning it was reservation-only, they left looking disappointed.● Ordered Menu Roka Plate: JPY 1,250 Daily Special Mini Curry: JPY 550 Retort Curry (Takeout): JPY 400The Roka Plate is the signature dish of this restaurant, featuring a combination of your choice of curry and Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice).I ordered a medium-spicy curry and waited a bit. When the curry arrived on my plate, it looked delicious right away.I was advised to mix everything together, and when I did, the spicy curry, rice, finely chopped vegetables, and side dishes harmonized beautifully, making it incredibly tasty! The meat in the Lu Rou Fan was tender and finely chopped, perfectly balancing with the curry. The daily special mini curry was also flavorful, with a nice spice level while still allowing the natural sweetness of the ingredients to shine through. The aftertaste was refreshing, and the curry didn’t feel heavy at all.As someone who struggles with spiciness, I found the medium spice to be my limit. A person who ordered the hot version seemed to find it quite spicy, frequently drinking water and wiping sweat while eating.I was so impressed by the depth of the spice curry that I ended up buying some retort curry to take home. Of course, it’s better enjoyed at the restaurant, but the retort version is of high quality. While it’s a bit challenging to visit, I’d love to try other curries, so I plan to return.● Atmosphere The shop has only six counter seats in a semi-basement setting.Mr. Saito, the owner, has appeared in various media but is very approachable and engaging, making for an enjoyable experience.● Other Information about the Shop Hand Towels: None Paper Napkins: Available Water/Tea: Water (with a pitcher) Tabletop: Cutlery, paper napkins, condiments, seasonings Luggage Storage: Available (under the chairs) Ordering: Verbally at the table Payment: Cash only● Personal Thoughts As a side note, spice curry can sometimes feel spicy even with minimal chili peppers, as certain stimulating spices can trigger pain receptors, leading the brain to perceive it as "spicy." I am currently training to distinguish between "spiciness" and "stimulus."
